The stress factor has been ridiculous around here so I needed a little project to pick me up. Anyone else find that being crafty or creative can calm the crazy factor in your mind?? Well it definitely, helps my brain!
My little Kian is 6 months old now and is a string bean. I mean super tall, but no junk in his trunk (like all my kids)! Buying clothing is super hard because not all baby clothes have adjustable waists. Anyways, I was browsing around Pinterest trying to find some easy pants to whip up for him when I came across this post on how to upcycle an old sweater into pants, click here for the post. I mean it was genius!
I always see these moms with there little knit baby pants and I think, “wow, those are adorable pants!” but then when I find them in a store I think, “wow, those are expensive!” I’m here to tell you, they are so easy to make and at next to nothing in cost!
My closet was actually lacking in the sweater department so I headed to Padre’s (a thrift store in our town) and got 5 sweaters for $5 (man I love that place). I am planning on making more pants for Kian and possibly for some baby gifts…depending on if my stitching improves. My sewing machine was way at the back of the closet and has not been used in years, so lets just say I’m a little rusty in the sewing department!
I followed the tutorial up until we got to the elastic waist. There I did my own thing! I hate when elastic flips around in its casing so I sewed the elastic waist in using something similar to this method here. Let me tell you it was fun and I can’t wait to make another pair!
I mean look at that guy, doesn’t he just look so adorable in his little sweater pants!!
PS. Next time I’ll remember to take step by step pics, since I did end up doing it differently then above post. It seems like when I get to do a project it is so spur of the moment that I don’t even think about blogging about it until I’m well into it!!
