Ham & Cheese Macaroni
We LOVE this twist on Macaroni and Cheese! This is an all time favorite for the kiddos in my house, and we just know you will love it too!
If your kids don't like peppers, you could leave out the red pepper but this really adds some yummy flavor!
Ingredients
- 3 Cups Elbow Macaroni
- 6 Cups Broccoli Florets
- 3 Cups Red Sweet Pepper, chopped
- 3 cups cubed ham
- 3 cups milk
- 8 tsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 3 cups cubed Velveeta
- 1 cup Bread Crumbs
- 1 tbsp butter or margarine, melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cook macaroni according to package directions, adding broccoli and sweet pepper about the last 1-2 minutes. Combine macaroni mixture and ham in a separate casserole dish and set aside.
- In a small saucepan, stir milk and cornstarch, as well as pepper. Cook and stir until thick and bubbly, but DO NOT leave unattended as milk cooks fast! Add cheese until melted. Stir into macaroni mixture in casserole. Combine bread crumbs and butter and sprinkle on top!
- Cook in oven 45 minutes. Should be bubbly and bread crumbs will be light brown!
