So the other night I knew I needed to make a good filling dinner that my hubby would love. He was actually home and when he’s home to eat, I LOVE to cook. So I checked out my freezer and fridge and decided on beef stew. It was a FREEZING cold South Dakota day and this sounded just perfect!
Beef Stew South Dakota Style
Ingredients
- -a pound or more of stew meat
- -an onion, carrot, and cabbage (this is optional)
- -garlic (3 tbl)
- -beef broth (4 cups)
- -salt and pepper
- -few dashes of worchetshire
- -4 oz of tomato paste
- -dried parsley
Instructions
- Start by salt and peppering your meat. Put some oil in a pan and wait for it to heat…when its sizzling throw in 1 tablespoon of butter and then add your meat.
- While the meat is browning chop up an onion.
- When the meat is browned remove it to a plate and throw in your onion and 3 cloves chopped garlic. I used the jarred garlic from the deli section. Who has time to chop garlic?!?!
- When this is all browned throw in your tomato paste and let it cook for a minute or so.
- Next, add your beef broth and a few dashes of worcestershire.
- Now you’ll throw the meat back in and let it boil down for about 45 minutes.
- After 45 minutes add your chopped carrots, parsley and chopped cabbage!
- Let this go for about 25-30 minutes and then serve it up over mashed potatoes.
